Christopher Augustus Barber
Christopher Augustus Barber is an ordained minister of the General Church of the New Jerusalem, a religion teacher at the Academy of the New Church, and president of the Swedenborg Foundation, which publishes and promotes the theological works of 18th-century Swedish polymath Emanuel Swedenborg. He holds master’s degrees in theology from Bryn Athyn College and in education from Widener University. Dedicated to making Swedenborgian (or New Church) thought accessible and relevant, Barber combines careful research, theological insight, and deep empathy in his work. He is especially passionate about reviving the stories of overlooked historical figures, preserving their legacies for new generations. He has written extensively on Swedenborgian theology, applied doctrine, and New Church history, and contributed the introduction and historical epilogue to New Church in the New World (2024).
